Don’t do shit you don’t want to do to live a life you don’t want to live.

For those of us who want to get to the next level, we are always looking for that edge to be better, faster, smarter and stronger.

Our biggest problem may be that we are doing something we don’t want to be doing in the first place or doing something in a way we don’t want to be doing it. My addiction helped me be able to perform in a life I didn’t want to be living in the first place. And maybe you don’t have an addiction, but if you are compromising who you are and what you want in your business, in your marriage, in your life… it will keep you from making it to the next level easily and from reaching your full potential. And what’s the point of reaching that next level if your ladder is completely against the wrong wall?

You have been given dreams and desires – dreams that drive you to be better, faster, stronger, smarter without prescription drugs.

This is my story of going through 10 days of detox in Costa Rica and what I discovered about what the last 5 years have done to my body.

This is an excerpt from my book Addicted: How to Stop Compromising and Be Truly Happy in Your Life

But don’t I need Adderall for my ADD?

Having Adderall just gave me the focus and benefits for about the first 6 months to a year. And even though I had ADD, I still had to develop strategies and coping mechanisms like:

  • Getting myself to focus on one thing at a time,
  • Being intentional,
  • Getting myself to sit down and just do 10 minutes(which usually would be enough to suck me into whatever it was I needed to work on),
  • Meditating,
  • Writing down complex processes as I worked so that I could follow along to keep me focused,
  • Listening to ambient music with headphones.

All of these things are helpful and almost necessary for most people to stay focused.

Oh, and the most important thing I needed to learn is –

Don’t do shit you don’t want to do to live a life you don’t want to live.

You are giving your life for that thing you are spending time on. Is that worth your life – even for money? Especially when there is something you are meant to be doing – something that your whole life has been pushing you towards this whole time? And maybe you DON’T know what that is yet, but if that’s the case your job right now is to figure that shit out. THAT’S your job until you do figure it out.

After the first year, Adderall really just took from me without giving me benefits.

Everything that has happened in your life has led you up to this very moment and I believe that everything has been there to serve you, even if you are in pain right now. Because no matter what, you have the power to use the things that have happened and take control of your life.

Without my experience with Adderall and the pain, I would not have been able to heal from my emotional trauma from almost 20 years ago, I would not have been able to manifest my future husband, and I would not have been able to write this book to share with you.

Too many times, we allow our pain to cripple us and all it wants is to be acknowledged and released.
